I've always been into body modification, but until recently, haven't had much done because of age restrictions and simple indecisive-ness. However, now that I'm legally old enough to get piercings without consent, I'm starting to build a small collection. I've already had a VCH, which I also documented on BME, and I finally had my nipples pierced 3 days ago.

The idea for the nipple piercing started as a joke, after I had the hood done. My boyfriend at the time loves piercings and was trying to talk me into it, and I kept putting it off, citing the pain as the big turnoff. Well, after doing quite a bit of research on here and talking to other people I know who have had their nipples done, I finally got up the courage to get my own done.

Although I didn't spend as much time as it sounds making up my mind, actually getting the piercings done was continually delayed. At first, I kept spending the money I put aside for it, and when I finally had enough, I went to the shop and the piercer was out of town for a week. Luckily, if I paid for it then, because I was doing the double, I only had to pay full price for one and half price for the second. I decided right then and there to pay and just come back in a week.

Well, that turned out to be a huge mistake. Once I had paid, I started having huge doubts about doing the piercing. I've learned that anticipating a piercing is the worst part for me...once I decide I want it done, I need to have it done right then! I ended up waiting almost two weeks before I went back, but I finally went back on Tuesday.

The shop was rather crowded, which I'm not used to. I know they have a steady stream of business, but I don't normally see more than one or two people in there. After I checked in with the front desk people, I was told to sit in the waiting area and they would call when they were ready for me. I had brought a friend along with me and she was the only thing keeping me sane right then. I could see the station from my seat, so I watched them sterilize the chair and lay out all the needles and accountrements of piercing, which only heightened my anxiety.

Finally, it was my turn to get pierced. I walked into the station and Vince pulled the curtain closed. He was my piercer for the hood, so I was already comfortable with him. He told me to take off my shirt and bra whenever I was ready, and since I've never had a problem being topless, I just pulled them off and threw them on the table. He had me sit in the chair as straight as I could and got ready to clamp me. The clamps hurt. They hurt horribly and all I could think was, "If I can't handle clamps, how will I handle the needle?" I said as much to him and he sort of laughed and told me not to worry, the clamps were by far the worst part. Now, on most of the stories I've read on here, first one nipple was clamped and pierced and then the second one was done. Vince clamped both nipples at the same time and had me hold the clamp on the other one while he pierced. When it was time to do the first one, he had me take 3 big deep breaths and on the third exhale, he pierced. Surprisingly enough, I could barely feel the needle, but then again, the clamp was still really bothering me. He did the same with the second nipple, and contrary to what I've heard from alot of people, I think the first one was worse. I liked knowing what to expect as far as pain goes, I guess. After he had the needle through, he removed the clamps.

I was expecting to feel pain then-I mean, honestly, I was sitting there with 14 gauge needles through my nipples, you would think it would hurt a little, but I couldn't even feel them. He had told me not to look down as I have a slight needle phobia, so I waited, staring at the ceiling, until he put the jewelery through. I was expecting that to hurt too, but I couldn't feel any pain. It was an uncomfortable feeling, because I could feel the hoops sliding through and the needle pulling out, but it really wasn't painful in the slightest. He snapped the balls into place and told me I was done.

Before I left, he told me one other tip to help them heal, other than cleaning and LITHA: Keep a band-aid across the bottom of the hoop. The reason behind doing this is that it keeps the jewelery from flipping up and down and tearing or irratating the wound while it heals. I've been keeping the bandaids on and have noticed a difference when I take them off to shower or clean the piercings. I highly recommend the band-aids to anyone with a fresh nipple piercing.

All told, I'm so glad I went through with this. I broke up with my boyfriend right before I had it done and it almost feels like a way of asserting my sense of self, because now I have a special thing on my body that is purely for me, not for anyone else. To anyone who is thinking about doing their nipples and is scared of the pain, don't be. Yes, everyone is different, but the pain is minimal and even now, 3 days later, I'm sleeping on my stomach and the only time I even know they are there is when I clean them. So, please, don't let the fear of the pain keep you from a piercing that might just make you as happy as it made me. Good luck and happy piercing!

The Needle Phobe goes for a Third Piercing

Before I say anything else, I want to make one thing very clear: I am deathly afraid of needles. I know that sounds ridiculous since I'm writing about a piercing, but bear with me- when I had to go get a hepatitis shot before freshman year of college, I started bawling in the doctor's office as he prepared the needle- and I was 17 years old. When I got my first needle piercing (tongue) I chickened out at the last minute and my boyfriend had to march me out the door to make me go through with it.

So, those facts taken into account...I decided last week that since my college refund check had cleared and I now had an expected 1,000 more dollars in my bank account- and since I had been working too many hours and thought I deserved a reward- I would go and get a new piercing. Although I considered inner-labia rings, what deterred me was the lack of sex for a few weeks until they healed. Since my job prohibits me from having any visual facial piercings (I barely got away with the tongue) and even non-traditional ear piercings (Again, I barely got away with a small stud in my cartilage) and I didn't want a navel (too overdone), the nipples seemed the most logical choice.

Because most of my friends were on my day off and I wanted to surprise my boyfriend, I went by myself- another first. Tuesday afternoon I drove to Marc's Tattoos and Piercing in Stroudsburg, PA, having been very impressed with Mat's work on my tongue- I can't recommend the studio enough, they're amazingly professional and cool. Although I had been very nervous and freaked-out about getting pierced again for the last few days, once I got to the studio I began to calm down, knowing it was almost finished.

I made a mistake by not calling up and checking the prices of piercings, though, and was short five bucks from doing both nipples on one day. Not letting this deter me, I asked Mat if he would do my right nipple, and then if I liked the piercing I could come back on Friday for the other one. I think this actually turned out to be a better idea because Mat pierces nipples in a 12 gauge (the standard is 14, which is smaller) and I was unsure if the larger gauge would make my nipple look out of proportion or not.

So I gave Mat a minute to set up his equipment and then walked into his little piercing room and sat down on the bench. We chatted about my previous tongue piercing and a few other things. The one idiosyncracy I do have about piercing is that I can't be allowed to look at the needle, because I panic...so, like last time, I told Mat not to let me see the needle, and he kind of chuckled but said ok.

When he was ready he said, "I'm ready whenever you are," and I took off my shirt and bra and stood up for him to clean me with iodine and mark me. It was a little weird having some guy see my boobs stuck in his face but I got over it after a minute or two.

After he marked me where the jewelry would go (not the easiest thing to do because I was shaking a little from nerves) he had me sit back down and I closed my eyes. "Okay," he said, "Now I'm going to put the clamps on you, which might be a little uncomfy, but then I'm going to have you take a deep breath and on the exhale I'll pierce you." I told him okay and felt the clamps going on...which I could feel because of the pressure (feels like someone pinching your nipple) but which didn't really hurt all that much. He told me to take a deep breath and I did. I felt the needle enter and exit but it was a curious sensation- although I felt it, it really didn't HURT. Or if it did, it was the way a scrape on your knee might hurt...just a little, not enough for you to really pay attention. The piercing was also SO fast that I barely had time to blink and it was over.

Then I felt him slide the jewelry in and he kind of smiled and said, "The needle is away, you can look." and I opened my eyes and watched him snap the little ball on the CBR. I was actually stunned that it was so quick and painless.

Mat dabbed off a little bit of blood that was oozing out and let me look in the mirror, and I instantly fell in love with my new ring. He then let me put my bra and shirt back on and told me the routine care for piercings, which I'm used to, being on my third- salt water solution 3-4 times a day, don't touch the ring, etc. Then we went out into the waiting area and I paid Matt 60$- 50$ plus a 10$ tip. He told me if I came back that weekend to get the second one, he'd only charge me 40$ for it- so in two days I'm planning on going back for another one, and I'm not scared a bit this time.

***Afterwards: My boyfriend loved my new piercing (he has his nipples done also and loves them) so it was a very good surprise. Although it was quite sore and bled a bit that evening, it may have been because I bumped it at work or something like that- anyways, it wasn't anything unbearable. I dabbed the blood off and soaked it twice in saltwater and when I woke up this morning, already the pain was gone! I'm already planning my next piercing.

For anyone who wants to get a nipple or nipples pierced I highly recommend it- don't be afraid, just up and go get it- the less afraid you are, the easier it is, and if a wimp like me can do it, ANYONE can!

Reclaimed identity and pierced nipples

Growing up in a fairly conservative family, I had no exposure to piercings. As I got older, I became aware of standard ear piercings, and was immediately fascinated that people would have pieces of metal inserted into themselves for appearance.

Unfortunately going to a boy's school meant that I missed the usual period where many females would have their ears pierced. Nevertheless my fascination grew over the years, as did my interest in piercings in other locations.

Some years after school, I married and settled down. My wife at the time had pierced ears, however, had no interest in piercings anywhere else – in fact she was repressed in a number of ways – including limiting the ways in which I was permitted to express myself.

When things began to fall apart in the relationship, I decided to claim back some of my own identity, by piercing myself.

It was important that I pierced myself because I felt that it was a critical part of being able to take back control of my life, and to do something that was just for myself.

I began to do some research on the internet, and discovered an online store, from which I purchased some supplies, and ended up piercing my frenum.

I thought this would be the first and last piercing – but thankfully I was wrong.

Since leaving my wife, I met a more progressive woman, with much more liberal ideas in relation to many things, including body modification. This has changed my life.

One day we were talking about piercings, and she remarked that she found nipple rings more attractive on guys than girls.

That set me thinking about something I would never have dreamed of doing up until that point in my life – piercing my nipples.

After giving it some serious thought over a few weeks, I decided to give it a go. I purchased a pair of 14ga barbells and some catheter needles from an online store, and set about piercing myself.

Friday after work, I settled in at home to do the deed. I cleaned my chest area meticulously with Alcohol, and laid out my equipment on the table in front of me. Examining my nipples, I noted that their size meant I would need to pierce them a little deeper than the nipple itself as I was scared that I might lose them if there was insufficient skin to hold the piercing.

I marked the entry and exit holes with a non-toxic marker, and clamped the first nipple using a clamp I had previously used for hobbies, but had first soaked in alcohol. By this time, the endorphins were firing to such an extent, that I felt absolutely no pain pushing the needle through. I was surprised how much force it took to do, but in another sense, surprised how it slid through without pinching or blood going everywhere as I had imagined it would. I guess if I had proper equipment I wouldn't have had to juggle everything at once (holding the clamp, pushing the needle through etc), but I really wanted to control the piercing myself.

I removed the metal needle from the catheter, cut the white plastic sleeve, and threaded the barbell through the piercing by inserting it into the sleeve and pulling it out slowly.

By this time, the nipple began to sting somewhat, but I absolutely loved the look of the barbell, and knew I did the right thing. I decided to continue to pierce my other nipple.

Repeating the procedure, I knew I was in trouble when I first touched the second needle to my nipple. The feeling was one of intense pain, as obviously the endorphins had greatly subsided. I kind of knew this would be the case when I clamped the nipple, and felt an allmighty pinch, unlike the first.

I had gone too far to pull back, so steadied myself and went ahead and pushed the needle through. After what was probably 5 seconds, but seemed like 5 minutes, the point of the needle emerged on the other side of the nipple, and I inserted the second barbell.

After screwing on the balls, I was on top of the world. the rush was incredible, and didn't go away for at least the next hour.

After a few hours, I showered, and following the aftercare instructions I found on the web, washed with antibacterial soap, did a salt soak and went to bed.

I had a restless night sleep, as I had the constant feeling that someone was firmly pinching my nipples, but I've got to say not a lot of pain.

That was yesterday. Today the nipples are a little sore and enlarged, but feel great. Every time a breeze blows through the house, I can feel the nipples tighten against the jewellery, and I know I did the right thing. My partner couldn't watch me doing it, but thinks they look great too. We can't wait until they are healed enough to play with!

The downside of piercing myself was that things could have gone wrong very easily and quickly. I was prepared to take that chance as it was very important to me that I did the piercing myself. It is also something that if I didn't do them straight etc. I only wanted myself to blame. As it turns out, it was easier than I thought, and they seem to be perfectly aligned.

If you've ever been turned on by the sight of pierced nipples, or the thought of having them, but were scared of the pain, then sure, it hurts a bit, but nothing like what I was expecting. I say go for it!

the shock of my life

After getting my tongue pierced almost six months ago I knew I was going to get something else done, just not what. It had to be something I could hide from my mom, she's crazy. The only option I felt comfortable with was my nipples. I decided it would be good because it was something private but not too personal.

So for about three months I was searching the internet for some information on getting it done, also reading up on care and cleaning info. I had to especially careful because I am a water polo/swimmer so I needed to be sure I had enough healing time before I could enter the water. During this time I ran into bmezine.com, from which I got a lot of good info and learned enough about the piercing itself to be sure I wanted to get it done.

Last week I decided I was going to do it. Finding a place that would let me, at 16, do it was extremely difficult. I visited and called almost 20 people, who all said no. Then I remembered that I had met someone during a recent black out while I was walking my dog, he was a cool guy and friendly for the most part and he said that he worked at a parlor not to far from my house. When I finally found his card yesterday, I called my friend Mike and asked him to join me. He was down, so I went to pick him up today at around eleven, which was hard because I had to leave school and he lives a couple doors down and my parents don't usually leave for work until 12. But I called home first to check and see if on the off chance they had already left, they had so I picked up Mike and we were off.

I was finally going to get it done. I was so nervous I became sick to my stomach, but thankfully not sick enough to barf. When we got to the shop I almost backed out but then I realized if I don't like 'em I can just take it out. Also if I didn't do it I may have regretted it especially since by this point my urge to get them done was beginning to fade.

When we walked in I couldn't find anyone that resembled the dude I met so I had Mike ask a woman working at the front desk if I could get it done. She said sure and gave me a form to fill out, she didn't even check my I D so I just put 18 on the form. That was cool I guess im lucky that I look older than I am, it's always helped me get what I want, but big boobs help too.

As soon as I signed the form she had me walk into a cubicle with a shower curtain and closed the sheet. In less then a minute my shirt was up she had cleaned it up and the clamp was on. With the needle in her hand and nothing to distract me on the stark white walls came the best and the main reason why I wanted the piercing, the shock of the pain it was such a rush. It was very intense but it did not last long. All I remember doing is mumbling curse words under my breath and the lady laughing at me. She then put the ring it, I got two curved barbells makes my nipples look cute. Putting the ring in wasn't that bad because I made sure she used a bigger gauge to pierce me than the actual gauge of my ring. Then in no time flat my left nipple was clamped and the second needle was going through. Honest to god this hurt like a, well yeah really hurt. This time I screamed and groaned. All of the stories I had read said it hurt more, but not too much. But I honestly think some of t hem were lying to sound cool because it is not pain free. If you don't have a high tolerance for pain you can pass out so be sure to eat well before u pierce anything. It didn't bring tears to my eyes because the pain was not prolonged but it was very intense. The best way I could describe it was like a hot needle passing through my nipple. The shock was worse than when I had a closed my hand in a door and broken it, but it lasted only a couple seconds. But like I also wrote I like the pain. She then pulled my second ring through this time I began to cuss at the top of my lungs. Maybe my nipple was hard or something but the curve of the bar made pulling the ring through this nipple really painful. After a few seconds of the most intense pain I have ever felt I, it was done. When her work was done the lady cleaned up what little blood had come out and bandaged on my nipples. She went amazingly fast I was honestly done in less then 3 minutes. While driving home I was thrilled the whole way I was smiling and laughing hysterically.

Since that time around eight hours ago my nipples have been sore. It felt similar to having fallen and scraping my knee, except on my nipples. Now they don't hurt at all and I can already feel an increase in sensitivity. My friends James and Chris just came by and I showed them they liked. But most importantly I really like it.

To any one even considering getting it done do it, the few seconds of pain is worth it. But do it for yourself, not because your boyfriend/girlfriend wants you to. Though they're cute and will be fun once they heal. Also if you have a good piercer tip 'em big, they appreciate it.. But do not pierce anything if you have any doubt about whether or not you really want it. A piercing should be something that has been well though out an planed for. Also I do not recommend getting anything done by some one other than a professional, the damage that can be caused may be irreversible.

Check your jewelry before stretching.

Hello,

Anyone who is interested in stretching their nipples, may want to read this. When I first started modifying myself, I was in the hands of others. I had a great piercer by the name of Luis Garcia, which motivated me to start stretching myself. He knew I didn't want to stay at the next size for long and I drove an hour and a half to get work done by him. Due to the distance traveled and major success stretching I started picking up jewelry at a local shop. I will leave the name of the shop out of this story because it is not my desire to bash them, just share my experience.

I was using tapered jewelry to stretch and took my nipples from a 10g to a 2g rather quickly. I would say it took about 8 months going one jump at a time. I gave the tissue roughly one month in between stretches. Once at 2 gauge I had a pretty gnarly pair of bone labret tusks I had picked up at infinite, were Luis was working. He had warned me that the bone is a very pore and I would need to remove the jewelry daily and clean and oil it. I did this every couple of days and decided the pain it put me through wasn't worth the look it gave me.

Here comes the actual point of my story. I am not sure if I have put this in the right category, as I don't see 2g nipples that large compared to those who have stretched up to 3/4 of an inch. But I found that it was time to change my jewelry to something a little more practical. I went to the local shop, which is app certified, to pick up some new jewelry. At the time I was in a bit of a glass phase and I had decided to pick up some glass plugs. They were 2g as well; maybe a little larger since the material was glass. The jewelry was pretty simple, clear with two swirled stripes running down the center.

When I got home I cleaned the plugs thoroughly with antimicrobial soap and proceeded to insert the jewelry. First was the right side, the plug went in no problem using some KY as lubricant. Then came the second, it went in pretty effortlessly as well just a little pinch. I turned the plugs to help eliminate any pressure from the jewelry change. I know I wasn't changing the size, but due to the types of jewelry I was wearing, size is more a guess. Doing this felt pretty good and I went to sleep. My nips were a little sore, but you would expect this when wearing new jewelry.

The next afternoon I awoke and was in a lot of pain. I looked down at my chest and my left nipple was very bruised and swollen. Lets just say I was not thinking good thoughts in my head. I went into the bathroom and got a hot shower, hoping that the heat would help relax the tissue. After the shower I had decided that my nipple was not happy. I decided I must take the jewelry out. Doing so was quite painful but it almost instantly felt better. Unfortunately the glass plug was not the only thing that came out of my nipple, I also had quite a large amount of blood running down my chest.

I immediately started doing sea salt soaks and left my nipple, without jewelry for the next couple of days. After 2 or 3 days I was able to put a 12g barbell in my nipple. I was able to heal my nipple up but the scar tissue was ridiculous. It took everything I had to get my nipple back up to a 2g and at that point I was done stretching. I just didn't think it was worthwhile to try and jump to a 0 with all that extra scar tissue. 6 years later I am still at a 2 and still doubt I will go to the next level.

After looking at the glass plug I found there was separation between the clear and the color glass. Whoever blew the plug must not have let it under the flame long enough for the two rods to bond. I have friends that blow glass and I know it isn't the easiest thing to do. For some reason the vendor still sold this piece to the shop and the shop still put it in their showcase. Since then I am very skeptical of buying glass jewelry. I have quite a few very nice pieces and the jewelry industry has come a long way in the last 6 years. However, there is also an increase in "cute" jewelry manufactures selling their crap to people only trying to profit off the industry and not caring about the quality of jewelry they are selling.

Bottom of the line, regardless of were you buy your jewelry, always double check it before inserting it. I bought this jewelry at a very reputable shop, so I figured I would not have issue. Unfortunately I was very wrong and my nipple was the only thing that had to suffer. When I took the jewelry back to the owner of the shop and explained the story all I got was an apology and a coupon for 20% off some new jewelry. I asked if he had his employees check the jewelry he sold and he blew off answering me.

I used this coupon to purchase some wood eyelets for my ears. Ironically enough while I was hanging out that night I heard a little pop. The next morning I heard another little pop. When I took the plugs out they fell apart. They had both snapped in half, identically. I returned these plugs and was very annoyed at this point. Once again I was offered a cute 20% off coupon. Needless to say I started waiting until I was in Philly at infinite to buy my jewelry, fortunately they care enough to make sure the jewelry they sell isn't crap.

Nipple ishous

Ok..so I'm only 14 years old (ah!amateur) yet I already have 14 piercings (one for each year I suppose) nothing 'major' 9 in my lobes (5 left, 4 right) my nose, my tongue and my navel.

I've always been really interested in piercings and the way they make me feel, i don't know how to describe it, it's just a sense of self worth or an achievement I haven't got much self confidence so I guess it just makes me feel a little better, a little more prettier or whatever. So anyway moving on about 5 weeks ago me and my friend Vikki decided we were in need of new piercings and since I've been dying to get my nipples done for quite some time now, I've never plucked up the courage so I decided that it was time I stopped being such a shithead and actually got them done.

We went along on the 19th July to a place called Hype in Newcastle where I got my tongue and navel done about a year ago and also where I'm getting my vertical labret done this saturday(at last yeah!!) they're good people- very professional and sweet but since Vikki wanted a clitoral hood piercing and didn't have any ID (as she is only 14 to) We had to leave quickly and search for another piercing place which is when we found this hidden away lovely studio named PX piercings. The place was so pretty and looked clean so we went in to make appointments and although Vikki could not get her piercing done there either (bless her) I made an appointment to get both nipples done and was introduced to possibly the two nicest people in the world (or Newcastle anyways) Peter and Margaret both crammed with piercings but nevertheless behind all the shiny silver there were big helpful smiles. I talked over the procedure with them and they explained that they would use a cooling spray which lessened the pain. Now although I like to think I have a high pain threshold I'm still a chicken when it comes to the thought of needles penetrating me in any way so this was good...good news.

The appointment was made for quarter to 2 which gave me around an hour to calm my nerves or should I say grab a bottle of beer and smoke twenty packs of cigarettes and before I could say ouch! it was time to leave Gotham Town (cool pub) and head back up to PX. When I arrived I was very nervous but excited to think that soon it would all be over and I'd have my beautiful new piercing. Unfortunately there was a woman in getting her madonna pierced and this seemed to take forever but at long last peter came out and beckoned me to come in the room (whilst the poor lady walked away moaning of the pain to her boyfriend). My boyfriend Rob came in the smart hospital smelling Piercing room with me as he had decided to get his nipple done also. We were asked to fill out some forms e.t.c and then they explained aftercare all the usual stuff then we were ready to go. Whilst peter prepared the jewelery (rings) and the needle margaret asked me to remove my top. Like I said before I'm very self conscious so this was a bit embarrassing but she made me feel very comfortable and when I was letting half of my nakedness hang out it wasn't all that bad.She then cleaned the area and marked on with a toothpick and some ink where the entrance and exit holes would be and then I was asked to clamber onto the table.

As there were two people completing the piercing it felt a bit intimidating as they were both hovering over me but they were so lovely and made me feel so relaxed that by the time we had decided to do my left nipple first and Peter had put the clamp over, it didn't actually feel like I was there to get a piercing at all. I didn't find the clamp uncomfortable or painful but when Margaret produced the needle I did get a tad scared. She told me what she was doing as she did it and counted to 3 before pushing the needle through. She also managed to keep a healthy conversation going between this explanation. I really didn't feel anything at all and was pleasantly surprised but this worked to my disadvantage as when the procedure was repeated on my right nipple I didn't expect it to hurt and although it wasn't unbearable it was a lot more painful than the first and also bled loads (the other one didn't bleed at all). Once the bleeding stopped I was allowed to have a quick glance in the mirror and aww they looked so cute, they just hung there perfectly so I fell in love pretty quickly. The plasters were put on, I got dressed, money and tips exchanged hands (30pound + a 5pound tip)and we said our goodbyes although not before commenting on the outstanding service and swearing we would go back there for our next piercings. Unfortunately PX don't do Vertical labrets and so while Rob is getting his eyebrow pierced for the third time and Siobhan (one of my mad friends) is getting her right nipple re-pierced tomorrow at PX I'm going down to my second favourite studio Hype to hopefully fall in love all over again with another piercing.

5 Weeks later and my nipples are doing brilliantly although still a bit painful if knocked and still a little crusty at times. I've been cleaning them with Savlon antiseptic spray twice a day and soaking them in salt water every now and again but I'd say to anyone who wants it done go for it, it's virtually painless and well worth it!!

And The Red Blood Cell Race Begins

I love piercings! Ever since I was a young girl (or younger anyways) in elementary. I dreamed of having my tongue pierced, and one day I achieved that dream all on my own. Then one day I felt the need to stick some metal in my chest. I felt the need to pierce my nipples!

I had wanted my nipples pierced for about a year before I actually got the courage to do it myself. I love the way they look on girls and consider it such a turn on. I wanted more than anything to pierce my own. Even though I really enjoy doing my own piercings, I would have gone to a shop but seeing as how I'm too young... I decided I couldn't wait any longer. I had pierced them once before but I used safety pins and the piercings were unsuccessful. Then one day while my big sister was away (I unfortunately share a room) I locked myself in and prepared myself for my second piercing. I had acquired an actual piercing needle from a friend of mine and figured that was the best thing to use. It was 14 gauge and looked a little too big for me but my only other option was sewing needles so I figured that would be the best choice. I didn't have any type of clamp whatsoever so I used ice to make it as hard as possible and I slowly worked the needle through the left nipple. I was sc ared to go very fast so I took my time and eventually I got it through.

I was very excited and all I had left to do was put the jewelry in. I had a small curved barbell so I just decided to use that and I would buy better jewelry later on. When I tried to take the needle out it was really hard to do. My only guess was that the hole had already begun to shrink. I slowly pulled the needle out and prepared myself for the insertion of the barbell, but when the needle came all the way out it began to bleed. The blood was pouring out really fast and I wasn't expecting any blood so I was completely unprepared for it. Fortunately I had toilet paper in the room. I tried to stop the bleeding but was very worried that the hole would close on me. For a moment everything was going blank and I felt a sharp pain both in my head and in my stomach. I don't know if it was from the sight of so much blood or from something else but I felt as if I were to faint. I tried to insert the barbell as soon as I could in fear that I would collapse then and there but I coul dn't get it in. As much as I tried it would not fit. So I used a large safety I had near me as an emergency utensil and left it on.

I felt really bad and light headed so I put my shirt and my bra back on and fell asleep. When I woke up the next morning (almost getting caught by my mother) my nipple was feeling only a little irritated until I moved the safety pin. Ouch that hurt. I left the safety pin in for about five days then I finally got the barbell in. I would move it around once in a while and clean off the crust that would gather with a q-tip. After a few more days it didn't hurt anymore and it felt great. I had pierced the right nipple also but that one did not work out for me. I had used a sewing needle for that one and put a safety pin in as well but I could not replace it with a barbell because I didn't have another one and I did not have the cash or the access to any body jewelry. I knew it might not work out but I left the safety pin in anyways. It was fine the first few days but one day I noticed that one of the openings was getting a bit bigger. I simply disregarded it and thought the hol e would go back to normal and heal just fine. I was wrong. A few days after I first noticed the increasing size of the opening, I had begun to realize that it was just getting even bigger and that the safety pin was tearing my nipple apart. The hole was very stretched out and was migrating both down and out toward the front of my nipple. I was worried it would rip right through and decided to finally take it off.

Even though the right nipple was unsuccessful, the left nipple turned out great. I still have it now and I now have a 14 gauge surgical steel horseshoe in it. I am completely in love with it and cannot wait to do my right nipple once again. Even though I have tried about three times to pierce that stubborn right nipple and have failed, I haven't given up and I refuse to give up. I am very happy with the results I had with one and don't mind trying the other again.

Even though I really should have waited until I could get them done at a professional piercing parlor, I enjoy the thrill of doing my piercings on my own. I have tried many different piercings, and believe me when I say many, even though I can only keep the ones you can't see because of my parents. I do my own knowing the risks I am taking but I strongly suggest that anyone planning on getting a piercing should really get it professionally done. There are many chances for mistakes and infections if you're not careful so it is best to leave it in the hands of professionals. If for any reason self piercing is still the #1 option, I suggest buying the appropriate utensils, equipment, and jewelry and hope that you have a successful and memorable experience. I know I have.

If you have any questions or comments regarding my experience, feel free to e-mail me at any given time.

- Liz

Nipple The Second Time Around

I first got my nipple pierced in March of 1996. I was stupid, I had no internet access, and did no research, so obviously I went to the worst shop in town just by pure chance. The experience was quite terrible (I spent the first 24 hours in complete pain, unable to sleep) and after a year I removed the piercing.

Getting my nipple redone was always a goal, and I had meant to do it on a couple occasions. However the first experience always hung heavy in my mind, and I guess the best way to put it was that it totally scarred me. How was I supposed to know that piercing a nipple wasn't supposed to be as painful as the horrific first time that I had?

Fast forward to January 31, 2004. A new Way Cool Tattoos had just opened in Kitchener. I had checked it out once, bought some jewelry there, and talked to one of the artists. The best things about Way Cool for me was A) it's located down the street from my place, and B) they're open to 9 every night. That means even on a Saturday I could get off work and get pierced. That's exactly what I did.

A friend from iam.bmezine (JJJewels) had come down to be with me for this experience. I had shared with her the details of my first time, and how bad it was. I told her that I would probably need someone to keep me from chickening out, and (as lame as it sounds) to just hold my hand. I won't lie at all, I was scared lots! I can't put into words how bad my first time was, and I'm sure the intervening years only blew it up in my head.

Julie arrived in town at 6:45 pm, and we drove down to Way Cool. We walked into a bright, clean shop with very friendly staff. We stood around a bit as I hesitated. I will be honest about one thing, Julie went back on a deal we had. The deal was, I would get my nipple, and she would get her lip. Well, she ended up getting her lip done two days before! This changed everything in my mind, I no longer felt committed to getting a piercing. But Julie pushed me, albeit gently. "Do you really want this?" she asked, and I answered yes. I filled out the consent form, paid my $50.55, and was escorted to the back room by an artist who was doing a tattoo when we walked in. He was the only piercer on hand that night, so he interrupted the tattoo for my piercing.

He was a friendly guy, obviously very experienced. My first question to him was, "Will the scar tissue from my previous piercing effect this one at all?" He looked at the nipple and reacted with, "What happened here!?" I told him that it was a long time ago and I didn't know very much back then, but I thought that I was pierced with something large gauge, like a 10. I also told him about the pain I was in, and he told me that was not normal at all, and this time would not be like that.

He cleaned the area, asked me to relax. I had a hard time relaxing, even sitting straight was a chore. He was very patient. I am 100% certain that I was the biggest wuss he had ever seen sit in his chair, and I have no shame in admitting that. All my other piercings were very easy on me, but that first nipple experience had really scarred me emotionally!

Eventually he put the clamps on. It hurt, a lot. I expressed this to him. In an effort to keep me comfortable, he tried again. And again. And again. Then he experimented with clamping my other nipple. It hurt as well. He went back to the first one. Finally he told me just relax, because this was going to be an extremely fast piercing, and I would be fine in just one moment. I said OK, I was ready. Julie came over to hold my hands. (Like I said, I have no shame in admitting this.) I calmed my breathing, until I told him I was finally ready. He asked me to take a deep breath, and exhale slowly.

And what do you know? It hurt no more than my nostril, my lip, or any other piercing. I was truly and totally amazed. This was not what I had expected based on my first time. The jewelry was in before I knew it, and he was cleaning the blood. I was quite a bleeder, but cleaning all the blood gave him time to explain aftercare in detail.

He encouraged me to purchase a product called Betadine solution. It is applied once per day, in the shower. You move the jewelry and allow it to work itself into the holes. Then, equally as importantly, you make sure you rinse carefully, getting all the solution out again. I purchased a bottle for $8, left a tip for him, and walked out very happy.

As I mentioned, my first nipple piercing throbbed so much that I could not even sleep for 24 hours. This one, I forgot about immediately afterwards. We went out to grab a bite to eat (during which I lost the ball to my labret stud, drat!) and hang out for some movies. I didn't even think about my nipple piercing at all, except the odd time when I accidentally leaned it against a pillow every now and then.

The moral of the story is this: Don't let your fears keep you back from getting a body modification that you really want. Whether based on fact or fiction, I think your fears have a way of blowing themselves out of proportion. The other lesson is that my first piercing as Way Cool was extremely positive, and I'm sure I will be back sooner rather than later!

Another Shower Related Accident.

In July of 2001 I had just graduated from High School. I was eighteen and very curious in forms of modification. My boyfriend at the time had his nipples pierced and I was always kind of jealous. I thought they looked great but was a little concerned about the side effects nipple rings might have. I was afraid that if I got them my nipples might never be the same again if I decided to take them out. After a few weeks of discussing this with him, and with other friends interested in modifications I decided to do it. I figured it was something that could be temporary if I so desired.

A few days later I decided to go ahead and check out the price and pain with my piercer to be. He was really sweet and made me feel comfortable. I decided that I wanted to go ahead with it, but wanted to wait until I had enough money. I know some people that had spent money they didn't really have on piercing, and I didn't want to do that. The next week I had more then enough money to spare so I made my appointment.

At the time I wasn't really nervous at all. I was reasoning with myself saying that I knew it wasn't painful enough to kill me, so I knew I'd be okay. I picked out fourteen gauge Stainless Steel CBR's to be pierced with and we started the process.

JD was very patient and took his time marking the holes. He made me look at them a few times and make sure I liked the placement and wouldn't pierce until I was completely happy. As I finally made my decision a little panic set in, but it was a natural high. After the first nipple was pierced I continued to turn as green as the shirt I had worn to the studio. My blood sugar dropped and I was feeling pretty woozy. I had a drink of water, regained my composure and continued. I was more then happy to get that over with.

After words I put my shirt back on and went and got ice cream to bring my blood sugar level back up and drove home. I waitress and the next few days were a little touchy. My nipples really didn't hurt all that much after I got them done. They never throbbed just felt tender to the touch. I spent most of my time protecting them from any unknown force that may come in contact with them. I was making sure nothing happened to my precious nipples.

In the weeks to come I grew really fond of my piercing. I was more then happy with my decision to do it. They looked good, and were healing very well. About three months after I had gotten them pierced they seemed to be completely healed. I decided that within the next few weeks I'd buy twelve gauge barbells and stretch them.

I finally decided it was time to get rid of the CBR's, they were too big in diameter and weren't aesthetically pleasing. I wanted to start my stretching process so I went out and got the barbells. I had a pretty difficult time my first attempt at stretching them. I decided to wait it out a few weeks longer and get up some courage. I was determined to have them stretched though., so a few days later I tried again. This time I didn't find it as difficult or painful for some reason. My will must have outweighed the other factors. After taking my time and being gentle the barbells finally went in.

A few days after I had the barbells in place my nipples started to crust. I figured I'd just start taking care of them really well and things would be fine. I started soaking them in sea salt a lot and cleaning them all the time. I would make sure not to touch them with my towel but to let them air dry. I wanted them to be completely sterile. I was failing miserably at making them healthy. I tried everything to be clean and piercing friendly but nothing seemed to work.

In the next few weeks they started to improve somewhat. I was careful not to go a day without cleaning them and stopped the sea salt soaks after a small improvement had been made. I ended up having somewhat healthy piercing again and was quite pleased about it. Finally I could have my nipples touched without pain involved. I guess this healthiness turned into carelessness. After a few months of having healthy nipples I had a small mishap. I was getting out of the shower one day and was drying off as normal: little did I know that this would be the last day of my nipple piercing. I ended up snagging a piece of the thread from the towel on the bead of my barbell. It got hooked around and ripped out as I was about to swing my towel off of me. I cried and bled for a few minutes and then finally decided to go look at it. It was split in half and was all bloody. I was in horror thinking that my nipple may stay like this forever. Knowing I had to go to work I put a Harry Potter band-aid over my nipple and carried on with my day. After a day or so I took the band-aid off and noticed my nipple had already started coming together. I was thrilled. I put another Harry Potter band-aid on it and prayed the magic would work again. I was convinced Harry helped me out. I don't know if I went about the healing process wrong but it really worked. After that I retired my nipple piercing forever. It was short lived but definitely worth it.

do it do it DO IT

So I've been flirting with the idea of getting my nipples pierced for a while, and after reading a hundred testimonials here on BME and looking at pictures of the female nipples rings, I decided I had to do it. I know my parents would flip out if I came home with another tattoo, seeing as how they were upset about my small wrist tat, so nipples rings was a good way to go. I'd been itching to have something painful done again like I did last year, and since piercings aren't permanent, this should be the pain I was looking for!

Don't get me wrong, I'm not out looking to hurt myself, but any other people who've been pierced or inked, you know what I mean.

So after planning out when would be the best time to get them done allowing for enough healing time out of the pool, tonight was perfect, since we're about to be let out for spring break.

I went around 6pm tonight, and it's 9pm, so that's the time table right now. I went with my friend who was getting her nose pierced, so we went out and ate some food before going. All day I knew I was heading over to Tat-fu later in the day, but I was not nervous at all. You know the feeling of anticipation you get? Well I wasn't getting it at all. Top be honest, i think I thought I was going to chicken out. But I knew I wanted to get mine done, and the only thing that was making me a bit nervous was the idea of the pain. As I'd read in most of the stories on here, it hurts like a bitch and there was a lot of complaining about pain afterwards. I don't know if I have a high pain tolerance or what, but here's how the situation went for me:

Ben took me and my friend in, and she got her nose pierced first, then Ben began to process of getting all the markings lined up. He used a toothpick dipped in some ink to mark the spots he thought would be good, measured the width and depth of my nipple, and spent about 20 minutes making sure everything was perfect. He let me check it out, I commented on one side looking very very slightly tilted, so he fixed it.

Now I am not a shy person, but I am when it comes to nudity and stuff like that, so I was kinda weirded out by the idea of having to stand with my boobs out, but Ben was so great. He looked pretty young, maybe somewhere around my age, I don't know, but if you're in the Flag area, go to Tat-fu and get Ben, he was such a perfectionist when it came to lining every thing up, which is definitely what you want. They're your nipples and you're putting a bar or ring through it. You want it to look the best it can! So anyways, after Ben and I agreed that the placement was great, or 'as close to perfection as possible,' he had my sit back in the piercing chair/table. It was adjustable, which is good for after the piercing (at least it was for me) he explained what he was going to do, then started doing it, putting the clamps on, which didn't hurt for me, just like someone was pulling on your nipple for a while. He said take a breath in through your nose and out through your mouth, and he pushed the needle through. 'Shiiiiiiiiiit' is what I believe I said, and he let the needle stay in the left nipple as he moved on to the right one. I guess this one is a little more sensitive on my body, because the clamps felt weird on it, and then he said breath in through the nose, ok, breath out, and in went the needle, with honestly a lot more pain than the first one, then he pushed the bar through that one right away, which hurt, 'what the hell are you doing down there?!' came out this time, haha. Then he went back to the left nipple, which I couldn't even feel, and he put the jewelry through, which I also couldn't feel. I guess if you have the option, in my opinion, letting the needle sit in your nipples for a minute lets it get used to the needle in it and it didn't hurt at all, so I'd recommend this.

The needle going through, once it hits about halfway, the pain is probably the strongest, at least for me it was. I actually thought he'd stopped halfway through to fiddle around with something and I was like, omg, are you done?! and he was like, 'uh yea, it's through!' So I guess that's a plus, because you think there's more, but there's not.

The pain was pretty intense, but it honestly lasted about 3-5 seconds. I have a small B sized boobs, so I don't know if this has to do with size, but I'm wearing a tank top with a built in bra right now, and I'm having no problems with pain or anything. The drive home was fine, no pain going over the tracks. I guess I'm just lucky in that department! But seriously, if you're thinking about it and just worried about the pain, yea, it hurts, but for a grand total of 10 seconds, it is sooo worth it. Ben gave me some sea salt to soak the nips in for a bit several times a day. Good stuff. Just don't carry it around suspiciously, it kind of looks like coke.

Remember, everyone's pain experience is different, this is just my story added to many others!

So moral of the story: I was afraid of the pain. Got them done anyways. Hurt for 10 seconds. Now have bars in them. No pain right now, little teeny bit of swelling, no blood. They look amazing. DEFINITELY worth it. Suck it up and do it, do it, DO IT!!!!

I Feel Like A Hooker .

For the longest time, I had been trying to think of a piercing that was not of the norm. I wanted something that no one else had. I wanted something that maybe someone would not be able to see by just looking at me. While looking through the many BME pages, I stumbled upon the female nipple piercing pages. After looking through there, and the nipple shield pages, my mind was made up. I was going to get my nipples pierced.

Valentine's Day was coming up, and my boyfriend and I always go down to Virginia Beach for the weekend. I was aware of the many piercing places that "the strip (Atlantic Ave)" had, but I had never actually gone into one of them. I searched online for a place that was close to the hotel that we had already booked, and I found a place at 21st and Atlantic called Urban-X-Change. I called them, and their price on piercing nipples was much cheaper than what I had been quoted by other shops. I was afraid that because of their cheaper price, their shop would be dirty or not qualified or something, but let me assure you, theirs are one of the cleanest places I have seen. The front of the store is groomed well, and has a nice selection of body jewelry.

Finally, we are on our way to the beach. The whole three hour drive down there, my stomach is turning. My head was swimming with a million different things. We arrive at our hotel room, and immediately I want to get it done and over with. Now, do not get me wrong, I was very excited about having the piercing, but I was not looking forward to getting it done (I'm a wimp).

Upon arrival at the shop, my heart starts to pound. I could not believe that I was actually going to get this done! I walk up to the counter and tell the lady what I want to have done. I fill out the necessary paperwork, and she tells me that she is going to get set up. I tell her that I want to have barbells instead of rings because I have heard horror stories about rings migrating and being rejected. Plus I also heard that barbells heal easier.

After what seems like hours (really it was like five minutes) she calls me in. I take off my shirt and she measures to make sure the barbells were going to be long enough. At that point I said " I feel like a hooker! I have never taken my shirt off in front of someone I was not dating!" I sit down in what looks like a dentist chair (I hate the dentist). Jessica asks me if I am allergic to Iodine, or any kind of shellfish, and I say "nope." She then wipes my nipples off with the Iodine, and tells me to stand up to be marked. I stood up, my heart pounding the whole time. I am marked and I check the placement in the mirror, it is perfect. I sit back down in the chair and she gets the clamps ready. The right one is the first victim. I do not want to watch her do the piercing. So the whole time, I am staring at the ceiling. She says "how does the clamp feel, does it hurt?" I say "Is it already on there? I can't even feel it!" She tells me to relax as much as possi ble, and to take deep breaths in through my nose and out my mouth. Then after my heart stops racing so fast she says, "Ok, now take a deep breath in." The next thing I know, the needle pokes out of the other side of my nipple. I say "That really did not hurt as bad as I thought it was going to."

After the first one, I calm down completely. She clamps the second nipple, and tells me to take another deep breath. I was expecting the first one to hurt about as much as the other one (at this point, the right one does not even hurt anymore), but it was a much sharper pain than the right one. I guess it is true what they say, the second one always hurts worse than the first one! After everything is over, and the jewelry is inserted, and the balls are screwed on, I stand up to look at my sexy new nipples. I love them! Jessica did a great job. She cleans everything off. I put my bra and shirt back on, and she tells me about all of the after care stuff.

I exit the shop with a new attitude. I feel so cool with my new nipple rings. They give me a lot more self-confidence that I had before I got them done. Who ever would have thought that two little bars would make me feel this special.

My boyfriend and I get back to the hotel room, and I start the after care procedures. I immediately do a salt soak, because my left nipple (the one that hurt a little more) had started to swell slightly. Just to make sure, I call Jessica to ask if this is normal. She informs me that it will be ok as long as it goes down by the next day. After the salt soak, the swelling goes down. By the end of the night the swelling is completely gone.

It has only been a few days since the piercings, but I could not be happier with them. I have not had any problems with them, other than the initial swelling. They do not even hurt anymore! If you are even thinking about getting this done, definitely do it! It is way worth the little pinch from the needle. Also, it really does not hurt. I have read a lot of stories on here where people say they screamed and cried etc., I can tell you right now, I am a wimp who cries at everything, and to me, all it felt like was a bee sting.

Oh my there s a rod through my jimmy .

Hi, I'm Lael, and this is the story of how I got my nipple ring.

I've always thought nipple rings were beautiful and always wanted to get mine done, but I was too young (and actually still am) and always terrified of the thought of getting half naked in front of a stranger. Well, it's been over 2 years since my last piercing experience, and I started seriously thinking about getting my nipple pierced. My young age was one of the main obstacles (I'm sixteen) and of course I had to get over my embarrassment and get used to the thought of having a complete stranger go through my goods. I consulted with a good friend who has both her nipples done and she strongly encouraged the idea and finally got the best of me. I decided to get it done on Tuesday, December 28th.

We got together and went to the studio, and the piercer came up to me and asked how he could help. I think that it was as I was forcing the sentence "I want my nipple pierced" out of me that I started to get REALLY scared. I always get hysterical before getting pierced, so I tried not to pay attention to it and not to look too afraid, since the piercer had no idea I was under age. (I'm prone to get all my mods done at a relatively young age; I got my nose pierced at 13 and both my navel and tongue done at 14.) My friend has 15 different mods and got most of them done at the same place so I guess he took it as I was the same age as her. Seeing as I really don't want to get the studio owners in any trouble, I will not be giving out the name of the place over here.

We went into the room, me being all shaky and sweaty and my friend grinning in amusement. The piercer was getting the jewelry (a silver barbell) out and told me to sit down, as my friend held my hand and I thanked God for her being there. The piercer turned around and told me to "get ready", I took the hint and took my top off and finally my bra, which I feared the most of. The embarrassment took a major nosedive as the piercer guy approached me. It looked like he didn't even think of my breasts as a sexual object - he just looked like a man who wants to get his job done. He told me to get up and stand up straight, and then asked which nipple I wanted done. I told him I wanted the left one. He took a quick look and then marked me carefully, and then told me to lie down on the piercing bed.

I lay down, my friend holding my hand and me feeling a bit awkward. He approached me, sterilized the area, and then did the whole "take a deep breath" thing, but what I liked about the way he did it was that he also added "as you take the air out I'm gonna push the needle through". Well, I did and he did.

Until that day I couldn't actually call any of my piercing experiences painful, being the pain slut that I am, so I really didn't expect this one too hurt TOO much. Well, it fucking did. I think I can say it hurt like my nose ring, navel ring, tongue ring and both my tattoos combined. And it wasn't just a short stab thing, the needle actually took some 5 seconds to go through (hey, that is a LOT!), and the pain was so intense, it actually burnt. I gasped and bit my bottom lip. It seemed like forever but it was over, and as the needle went all the way through the outer hole the pain was surprisingly gone. The piercer got a little panicked since my eyes were forcefully shut and asked if I was okay. I replied that it hurt more than I had expected, the piercer and my friend both laughed. He put in the jewelry and I instantly got up, but he told me to lie down for a while and went through the aftercare instructions along with me. I got up at his permission about 5 minutes later, paid and tipped him off, then me and my friend headed off to McDonalds to get some ice cream.

I spent the following 7-8 hours at my friend's house. I took some Advil earlier on because it hurt a little and I feared the pain getting stronger, so I kind of forget the ring was there. It was getting late so I took a bus home, got in my room, took my shirt off and as I was getting ready to rinse it with some sea salt soaks, it gently shifted, and bam - in goes the downpour. Oh yes, it bled. My God, did it bled. And the worst part was that it just wouldn't stop. I got a bit panicked and called my friend, telling her I was bleeding to death. She laughed and told me to keep rinsing it, so that's what I did. The bleeding stopped about 15 minutes later, but I was so frightened that it might start bleeding again so I couldn't think of touching it for the rest of the day.

The following week I wore nothing but sports bras to sleep, and even though it bled a bit a couple times a day, it was definitely getting better. In the shower, when I used to wash all the crust and clotted blood off, I'd look at it and feel extremely content with myself. It looked so pretty and I was so proud of myself for getting it. I still am.

So, my nipple ring is now 2 months old, it's healed, it's been "test driven"... and it's now my favorite. All this time I was scared of some alleged sensation loss, turns out the opposite is the truth, and I'm loving it. If you're thinking about getting yours done, what are you waiting for? By all means go for it, you'll definitely be thanking yourself later.

43 and finally took the plunge

My boyfriend (J) lives in Colorado and I live in the San Francisco Bay Area. We've talked about getting my nipples pierced many times, but I agreed not to do it without J being present. During this last trip to Colorado we decided it was time. Fort Collins is a college town with plenty of places to get pierced, but I decided that Millennium was the right place to have it done because of their good reputation. We went to visit Millennium last Monday and talked to Chuck. He is the manager and has 8 years of piercing experience. Millennium is a beautiful studio and Chuck was great to chat with. We agreed to come back the next day.

As we drove up to Millennium my heart was in my throat but I had a huge grin on my face- today was the day! J held my hand as we walked in. Chuck went over the basics, telling me the ring size would depend on the size and shape of my nipples and breasts. I filled out the paperwork, chose a pretty green bead for my captive rings and waited for Chuck to set everything up. Then he came for us and walked us into the piercing room.

The overhead lights were as bright as an interrogation room, but I know good lighting was necessary. He explained exactly what he was going to do, and J looked over at all the tools on the tray with interest. After one look, I decided I wasn't going to look any more! I'm one of those people that will faint if I watch my blood being drawn, so I decided to go with the ostrich approach.

I removed my top and bra. Chuck said the rings we had selected would be fine. I was relieved because I have a DDD cup and heavy breasts, so I was worried we'd have to go with a larger ring. Chuck marked my nipples asking me to ok the placement. I felt awkward standing there half naked in such NON flattering conditions even though it was only J and Chuck (who was as professional and wonderful as I could have asked for). It's was interesting to me because I never see myself as being self conscious, but when it comes to my body being judged by others I really am.

After Chuck was comfortable with the markings and that all of my questions had been answered, he asked me to lay back on the table. I lay down and as J took my hand, I noticed my palms had become very sweaty. The overhead lights were so strong that they were actually warming my body, which was a nice consolation for the blinding aspects. Chuck said he'd let me know when he was going to insert the needle, and suggested that after I felt the pain it should be followed with joy. I closed my eyes and began to breathe. The pain of the needle moving through me was shockingly intense, yet bearable. It created a huge rush through my entire body and I used my breath and squeezing J's hand to get through it. I made some slight moans as the needle went through me. (Later, J said those noises and my facial expressions were just like those I make during sex when I'm right at the edge of pleasure and pain. No surprise there, because that's what I'd compare it to!) I remember the sensations of the piercing as though it just happened- searing pain with that luscious edge of pleasure to it. The sensations during the piercing of the second nipple were almost identical except it seemed a little quicker. When it was over I was exhilarated! I'd finally done it!

I was very grateful for Chuck's presence and gentle nature. He made me feel at ease and was clearly mindful that piercing goes beyond the cosmetic and adorning aspects.

We paid and tipped on the way out and I almost skipped to the car! During the ride home I was still high from the experience and noticed I was feeling aroused. It was partly a reaction to the piercing itself and partly the idea of what was in store when I was healed up! My nipples were a little sore but the endorphins kept it all at a 'good' sore for the first few hours. We went out to dinner and a beer and played some trivia. By the time we got home I wanted an Advil. I slept in a tight T-shirt and the piercings never disturbed my sleep.

5 days have gone by and I have some crusting and pain. I follow my after care instructions to the letter. I also make SURE to carefully clean off all the crusties at the exits and off of the ring itself before I rotate it. I read that forcing dried matter- even a small amount- through the piercings while cleaning them can cause big problems.

My right nipple is perfect and doesn't hurt at all unless I bump it. But my left nipple was pierced a bit wider than my right, just slightly into the areola. My nipples tend to be rather flat, so I imagine this was necessary. However, this causes the ring to have the tendency to stick straight out instead of be flipped up or down, and one side of the piercing to feel irritated much of the time. Because of that, I don't like wearing a bra on the left side, although it feels comfortable on the right. Hopefully that will calm down with time. Around the house I wear snug T shirts or camisoles.

All in all this was an excellent experience. I can't wait to see J again and let him play with our new toys! I had to go back to the Bay Area the day after the piercing and I won't see him again until New Years Eve. Somehow I think it'll be a memorable one...

16 years old and first Nipple Piercing

I wake up two days before my 16th birthday and I decide I want a piercing. I speak to my mum who amazingly did not go through the roof and who was actually really cool and said ok.

But with certain conditions it had to be in a place only I could see unless I wanted other people to see it!

" Son you have a choice; nipple, genital, belly button!"

" Hum nipple I think!"

So having made the decision we left for the nearest city to us, not knowing where we were going because, we were English people living in France and having only made the move 6 months ago we naturally didn't know all the piercing parlours in the area. But we keep on searching and finally we found one. We walk in and the place is dark, dingy and it stinks! My mum looks at me and says; "turn around and walk out"

We continued our search and we finally came across a tidy, clean establishment. Now my heart is beating really fast and I start to feel scared!

I walk in speaking very little French and ask a guy with rings and tattoos all over him if he speaks a bit of English. He looks at me as if I was dumb and says; "Of course"

So I explain to him that I want to get my nipple pierced, he looks at me in amazement and can hardly believe what I am saying he agrees and tells to follow him into the little room behind the till

We walk into the little room and the whole place smells clean and looks shiny. He tells me to sit down on the reclining chair whilst he prepares the needle and ring.

He measures the size of my nipple and says: " hey dude you nipples are way to small for the piercing to go through the actual nipple. If you want your nipple done I'm going to have to go deep under the nipple". So I say ok after all, all I wanted was a ring going through my nipple.

So he reclines the chair and starts to clean the area. He draws 2 little dots with a pen ad asks me if I was ok with the 2 dots, naturally I agree. Then he tells me to take a deep breath and that when I feel the pain I should force out my breath slowly to ease the pain. I feel the cold end of the needle touch the right hand side of my nipple and I take a deep breath just before it starts to go through.

It felt like it was burning but at the same time it was extremely cold I could feel it go through really slowly and the I felt it break through the other side of the nipple. That was when the adrenaline rush kicked in and I felt as if I was floating on thin air, it felt so good!

He gets the ring and starts to put in through from the right hand side of the nipple the metal felt hot as though it had been heated in an oven. It's halfway through and the adrenaline rush kicks in again to ease the pain, f**k does it hurt. Then the ring gets stuck because of the hole being so tight and I can feel him pressuring the ring to go through and then it comes out the other end and the pain calms down. At last I had my first piercing the guy tells to stay laying down and relax, he gives me a cube of sugar and tells me to eat it. I slowly sit up and my head is spinning so fast I find it hard to see the lights. After ten minutes I pull myself forward and take a deep breath it's throbbing real bad and the ring is sticking out because of the depth of the hole I look at it and I don't believe what I have just done.

I eventually stand up and open the door to go out to the till and all of a sudden my head starts spinning and my mind goes blank the guy grabs me and stops me from falling. I slowly get my wits together and realize where I am. At this point I have forgotten what I have just done and I go to touch my nipple! , Ouch, big mistake that hurt. I pay the guy 400 francs so roughly 60 dollars I go to walk out where my mum was waiting when the piercer calls to me: " You're one tough little dude I have never done a piercing that deep on someone so young!!". I walk out feeling like a billion bucks I show my mum the ring and she looks at me in disbelief.

That night was extremely hard even my t-shirt rubbing against my nipple made it hurt as if it was burning, but it was worth it and now I am the proud owner of a 3 cm deep pierced nipple which most guys wouldn't have coped with at the age of 16. Even now I come across people with a nipple piercing but none of them yet have been as deep as my one. The feeling is absolutely amazing and I really can't describe it, but at the same time the pain is immense. Since my nipple I have done many other piercings but none of them have been as painful.

Advice, if you want to do it go for it, it is definitely worth the pain but make sure that if you want both your nipples done do them at the same time because otherwise you won't want to do the second one because you remember the pain from the first one. I waited 2 years before getting the second one done.

The best thing with a nipple piercing is that not many people dare do them, so you always feel original. Enjoy your piercing and make sure you follow the advice the piercer gives, keep it clean and don't play with in the first few weeks of healing, turn the ring when you're in the shower but make sure flowing water is going on to the ring, after 2-3 weeks the pain is gone and you don't regret it one bit.
